Comparison of integrated nutrient management and production of millet in China and Burkina Faso.
What have you done in Quzhou Experiment Station?
During the 6 months I have been at Quzhou Experiment Station, I conduced a field experiment and pot experiment on integrated nutrient management of millet production. The two experiments (field experiment and pot experiment) focalized on the use of organic fertilizer combined to chemical fertilizer at different levels, two levels for organic fertilizer (zero dose and 5 t/ha) and three levels for chemical fertilizer (zero dose, low dose and optimum dose). These experiments have allowed me to improve my knowledge on agricultural field like farm management and on research level with a more advanced analytical and critical capacity. I also conduct a meta-analysis on effect of use of organic fertilizer combined of mineral fertilizer on millet production in Africa and China. Beside my experiments I participated in visits in Science and Technology Backyard (STB) village in order to understand the principle of STB system. The visits of Qian Ya STB, DeZhong STB, Xianggong zhuang village, Wangzhang STB, in addition to having increasingly impact my understanding about the principle of STB ‘’ Work closely with farmers helping them to diagnostic their problems and to find a sustainable solutions’’, allowed me to discover certain crops such as apple, grape, wheat and their production system. The situation of self-learning in the comfortable study room and participation of seminaries, have increasingly improved my ability of reading, analyzing and summarizing of scientific papers. The daily reports which the aim is to summarize my daily activities over and above to improve my writing ability, allows me to follow and to have strong record of all activities I am doing.
